I was struck by the most random of inspirations and wrote out the script/panel plans for a short doglock comic.  Problem is it’s REALLY FUCKING SAD.

I re-watched Sherlock. Then I got emotions. Then I had to paint something, and I was incapable of being happy at that point.

Incredibly in depth, intelligent, and well researched interview with Michael Price.  I wish more interviews were this well constructed.  Bravo!  Go take a read everyone!

For all my followers who stick with me and are so sweet I can only say, thank you!!!  Sorry I haven’t drawn anything in forever.  It’s  just a little thing, but take this as a peace offering.

You don't like s3? Why?

I didn’t say I didn’t like S3. It’s just that I’m wary of it, of diving into it and getting caught up in the plot of it. The things I adore most about the show have been established by director Paul McGuigan frankly. I’m not sure I have the energy to enter so deeply into three different director’s visions. Because I see these new episodes not as Sherlock but as the spins three different directors put on what are now iconic characters. Each director was given free reign (which works on Doctor Who and NOT AT ALL with Sherlock) to show off their ideas of these characters and I think this was a huge mistake on Hartswood FIlm’s part.

There’s little continuity in the way the episodes are acted. That said, I think Martin absolutely thrived under Colm McCarthy with his best overall physical performance in the series as drunk!John. Benedict, on the other hand, kind of came untethered without his pal McGuigan steering the ship. I think it shows just how susceptible he is as an actor to direction.

I have nothing against the existence of Mary Morstan— she is canon after all— but I think tptb made mistakes in how they handled her. For example it was a colossal misstep not to tell Amanda what Mary’s story arc was (even if it was obvious once “liar” went all over the screen.) She would have played Mary so differently had she known and imo she’d have done a better job as an actor with that information. Why didn’t they tell her? Did Moffat really not know in advance? Was his script that late in coming out? Did they not trust Amanda personally? (She has a dramatic twitter presence after all. ) Or were they afraid the crew would leak it as they feared with the resolution to the fall. There’s a lack of trust there that’s a production problem. It’s the makers that give continuity to the show, certainly not the scripts and without all the necessary plot information they don’t know which way the wind blows and cannot do their best work if they don’t know what actual story they’re telling.

So my main wish for the end of S3 and S4 is that tptb consciously strive for consistency. If they can’t lure McGuigan back after his Frankenstein premieres (with so many of the Sherlock cast and crew working on it!) then I hope they convince Nick Hurran to return for at least 2/3 of the blocks/episodes. He was trying to return, it seems, to more of what made Sherlock great— the world that McGuigan established.

Babble babble babble

This is perfect. It expresses beautifully why S3 felt so desperately uneven.

Seconding all of this. I think the writing was uneven too, but its amazing what can be smoothed out with consistent direction. Curious where you think BC’s acting was different on series 3!

Do You Want To Solve A Murder? / Series 3 in Song (A Sherlock/Frozen parody)

So, I’ve been toying around with this idea for a long time. I wanted to write lyrics for Sherlock to sing to his best friend, John, and all I came up with was “Do you want to solve a murder?”. So, after long thinking, I wrote the lyrics yesterday.

And today I sang it. Hopefully you guys will like it!!

LYRICS

John?

Do you want to solve a murder?
C’mon, let’s go and see
We never do this anymore
I am extremely bored
Just come along with me!

We used to do this often
And now we don’t
I wish you would tell me why!
Do you want to solve a murder?
It doesn’t have to be a murder…

(F-cough, Sherlock!)

Okay, bye…

Do you want to solve a murder?
Someone in here is gonna die
Okay, I know it is your wedding day
There simply is no way
That I would ever lie
(Except for that one time, sorry)
Who’d get murdered at a wedding?
We have to think it through
Our time is now running out!
(Tick tock, tick tock, tick tock, tick tock)

John?

I never got the chance to say this…
Remember when I made my vow?
My death is nearing
Please forgive me, John
For all the hurt I caused
I let you down
My friend, I will be gone soon
And I’ll miss you so
These words that I’ve never said…

“Sherlock is actually a girl’s name.”

I’m back? It’s really a good thing I abandoned my art career for animal welfare.  It’s a fickle relationship, what I have with art.  Anyway, here, have some Potterlock. :)

Reblogging because I feel bad for having nothing Sherlock related to post when I’m pretty sure that’s why you’re all here. (love yah!) This is actually one of the pieces I’m happiest with, as well as the one I tend to forget I even made. :p
