The thing I love about this is that it’s probably been 3 years since John said the same thing to him.  Yet he obviously, for whatever reason, kept it with him. Thought about it, maybe ruminated on what it meant, possibly it made him smile when he was out on his own… I DON’T KNOW, BUT I LIKE IT. Current headcanon: Fireworks are triggering for John, so on holidays Sherlock plays and screeches and just works his violin all night to drown out the pops.

“I do wonder if ultimately the day will be saved by the return of John Watson in his full glory - a John who finally understands himself and Sherlock and the meaning of their partnership. I don’t believe we get them back together in 221B without John going through his own kind of heroic arc of destiny. I think it will take an emotional reckoning to get to that understanding. The power of this duo has always been the emotional response readers have to them. That together they fit. Perfectly. If this adaptation is about how they got there & imagining a different long term game that has them together rather than canonically apart…then I think that journey will be a painful one. I think they are going to make them not being together seem like an injustice that has to be righted. For balance to return to this universe we need John back. I think Moffat and Gatiss have planned this disruptive, unsettling s3 that us left us shut out of so much of John’s arc *precisely because it can then be righted*. I’m expecting the pendulum to swing back to us seeing the world through John’s eyes with gut wrenching force.”

I took the liberty of cutting and quoting this from gloriascott’s wonderful headcanon because man, it gives me so much hope. Even though I don’t like speculating on showrunners’ intentions, reading s3 through this lens really saves it for me.

God yes, this is what I am hoping for.

This is what I need S3, in hindsight, to have been setting us up for.  Out of curiosity, I know tumblr’s Sherlock fandom makes up a small percentage of the overall viewership, but what was the “mainstream” reaction to S3?  One of my closest friends is a casual viewer, not a johnlock shipper (she doesn’t ship anyone), and S3 fell flat for her as well, though she didn’t go into detail as to why that was.  Where I stand, John and Sherlock’s relationship is the heart of the show regardless of your thoughts on johnlock/tjlc.   So this would be a win win for everyone.

"John, are you even listening to me?"

Trying a bit of a different style, coloring wise.

Q

Anonymous asked:

If they ever have John and Sherlock kiss, how do you think it will be shot?

A

221beemine:

Oh Anon, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

I need kisses, lots of kisses, all the kisses? ALL THE KISSES

In my headcanon Sherlock and John would (will?) not be romantic in the stereotypical fashion….and cuddling would be rare but Sherlock would totally get into cuddle moods where he just turns into a clingy, possessive, blanket; John would just continue whatever it was he was doing while Sherlock does his best impression of an octopus.  On that thought….scuttles off to sketch.
